Project Origins: This financial literacy project was inspired by “Nickled and Dimed”, a novel written by Barbara Ehrenreich. This is the very first year of this project. The idea was created in a brainstorming session led by Mrs. Jewel Glenn, one of the BAB members employed at the Federal Reserve in Charlotte. |

Project Origins: The Ethics Challenege is a project that the SIFE team created last spring in a brainstorming session. It is a competition held on UNC Charlotte's campus for high schools students where teams debate each other based on an ethical case study presented the evening before. The cases focuse on ethical business issues in business, work life and personal life. The debates are moderated and judged and prizes are awarded at the conclusion of the day. |

Project Origins: This project evolved from a former SIFE event, called "Career Day". In past Career Days, business speakers presented industry information in each of the Belk College of Business junior and senior classes. This year, we hosted a lively and upbeat speed networking reception, followed by the well-recieved etiquette dinner, providing a unique opportunity for business executives to make direct contact with individual students. At the same time, the event provides students with valuable information about careers and potential contacts for future employment. |

Project Origins: The UNC Charlotte SIFE team hosts the annual Leadership Conference sponsored by SIFE National Headquarters. The Leadership Conference welcomes rookie SIFE teams from the region to the UNC Charlotte campus for a day to learn more about the SIFE organization and how to best operate, lead, and sustain a strong team. The conference also offers a platform for rookie teams to brainstorm potential project ideas that fulfill the five SIFE pillars: Market Economics, Success Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy and Business Ethics. |

Project Origins: The Duel in the Queen City is one of many regional financial case study competitions that SIFE teams participate in across the nation for cash prizes. Each regional duel has six participating teams attend, each with four competing members. The competition consists of a 36 hour case study, during which time the team has to address all of the issues surrounding the case and decide on the best solution. |

Project Origins: This project was inspired by the former SIFE Advisor, Dr. Jack Hogue, who wanted to address the growing needs of the Hispanic population in the Charlotte region, particularly in the area of financial literacy. UNCC SIFE members with Spanish speaking abilities will host seminars so that the participants can better understand the material being taught. This is the third year of implementation. |

Project Origins: The Police Athletic League (PAL) uses athletic and academic programs to deter at-risk youth from crime and violence. UNC Charlotte partnered with the Charlotte-Mecklengburg Sherrif's Department out of a desire to help the local youth. This project is in its third year. |

Global Leadership Program & Global Summit |

Project Origins: A meeting with representatives from the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System created a vision of bringing middle school and elementary school students with college students. This is the 4th year of implementation for the Global Leadership Program (GLP). Beginning in October and extending to March, SIFE team members travel to the participating schools to provide hands-on activities relating to a themed global cirriculum. The CMS students will be visited at least once a week by members of the SIFE team preparing for our pinnacle event, the Global Summit. During Global Summit, the CMS students travel to the UNC Charlotte campus to participate in the experiental activities designed to share and apply the educational skills learned throught the year. |
